Institute of Philosophy (IP) has its roots in 1995 when Dr. Krishnamoorthy commenced yoga and meditation classes in Melbourne. In 2005 he opened up a new venue for mediation practices and it was mainly confined to a closely knitted group of people who were interested in meditation for stress reduction.

Krishnamoorthy commenced his Meditation practices 2005 in Melbourne and trained many people in the meditation process. His teaching style is practical and the theoretical explanations of the process of mediation helps the participants to understand how meditation works in reducing stress, tension, anxiety and depression.

His book, “Therefore Let’s Meditate” has been widely read as it is purely analytical, beyond the boundaries of culture and tradition. It analyses the possibility of delving deep into human consciousness which is untainted by any doctrine and dogmas. One can read the first chapter in this site. His philosophical discourses, simple and lucid, attracted many to practice meditation; he inspires and motivates to practice meditation.

Krishnamoorthy obtained his doctorate degree in philosophy from University of Madras, India in 1994. His thesis focused on phenomenological hermeneutics of statements that express the nature of human consciousness. Dedicated in instilling awareness among the public the need of realizing the underlying unity of human consciousness, he offers discourses, lectures and training in the practice of various techniques on the possibility of knowing one’s own essential nature.

Philosophical Counselling

Krishnamoorthy is a registered member of American Philosophical Practitioners Association. His counselling methods are analytical of the relationship one establishes with the problem, rather than suggesting a solution to them. He also provides clarifications on the issues and problems so that clients can make a sound judgment for themselves. Followed by counselling, he provides techniques to clear the mind so as to find peace and joy.

Integration of Philosophical Counselling in the practice of meditation enormously helps the participants to practice meditation easily. Participants can sustain their meditative experience of joy and peace throughout. By having the awareness of how meditation techniques work, practitioners find it easy to practice mediation.

Research and Practices

Research has been conducted on how verbal expression illuminates the listener and act as a catalyst leading the listener to the realization of the meaning. Traditionally, this method of communicating philosophical wisdom for the purpose of realization of meaning has been known as ‘yoga of knowledge’ or jnana yoga. How linguistic utterance helps the listener to realize its meaning is a fundamental issue in the philosophy. While listening to the philosophical aspect of various meditation techniques and its practicality, one will be able to realise the efficacies of language that instills and empowers one to the meaningful practice of meditation.
