PHILOSOPHY
The main objective of the INSTITUTE OF PHILOSOPHY is to disseminate values of philosophical thinking. Philosophical thinking helps us to realize a wider and deeper perspective of life by removing misconceptions.
Philosophy is not a barren intellectual exercise, but it examines some of the enigmas of life and helps us to discover the nature of life and existence. Majority of the problems we experience are due to the absence of philosophical thinking. Philosophy is an effective antidote for most of the problems emerging from some of our concrete ideas to which we are obsessed with. Philosophical thinking stimulates our intuitive power and opens up immense potentialities in us. Although we commence our investigation with the aid of intellect, finally it leads us to discover the truth of life and existence.
“On the path to discovery, the intellect has little to do. There is a leap in consciousness, call it intuition or whatever you like, and the solution comes to you, and you do not know how and why… And the only thing that counts is intuition”, says Albert Einstein.
Philosophy, whether it is Eastern or Western, has been confined to the remote corners of Universities. While it is true that common mass are not interested in pursuing academic philosophy, academic philosophers are not keen to introduce philosophy to public. It has been acknowledged by Institute of Philosophy (IP) to propagate philosophical thinking that has direct implication to the practical life. While pursuing conceptual analysis and rational understanding of the universe in relation with individual existence, training will be provided by IP to transform philosophical thinking into wisdom par excellence.
What is special about IP?
Institute of Philosophy, leaving aside all cultural boundaries of Eastern ways of thinking, integrated values that can be comprehended by any thinking person.
For instance, while philosophy stands for love for wisdom in the Western tradition, the equivalent term, darshana or vision, implies practical realization of the wisdom. Socratic dictum, ‘know thyself’ is widely known as ‘self-knowledge’ in the East.
While the Western tradition is deeply rooted in the process of thinking as a way to wisdom, the Eastern adopts both thinking and practices of techniques and methods to alleviate the vexation of human beings.
IP amalgamates both theoretical-conceptual knowledge of the West and practical applications of techniques and methods of the East in order to address various problems we face in our contemporary world.
IP upholds the judgment of Albert Einstein, “Knowledge is experience - everything else is just information”, and interested in the practical application of techniques that reduce mental tension, stress, anxiety and depression.
IP will conduct workshops, seminar, discussion, training from time to time. Our services have been made available to public over internet chatting, video conference, telephone and emails as well. For the details of some of the challenging courses, click on courses.
